The daily chronicle of my family as we embark on our quest to relocate from New York to Cairo... the impending journey to get there and the daily lives of myself, my husband and our four children... and other random thoughts while living in Cairo!

Looking to make contact with other Muslimahs who are like myself with small children living or will be living in a foreign country.

I invite you to share the experience with us as we try to make this happen!

Slowly... but surely

Well, just wanted to say that things are stagnant right now with the moving process... I guess there's not much else to be done except find a credible shipping company that can come to my home and pick up what I need to ship. The hubby keep long hours and I can't get these boxes to any of the many local carriers by myself as I need a commercial van or open pick up truck to get the stuff there- and it's all heavy! This seems to be the hardest thing left to handle before I bid my home adieu...

Not looking forward to arriving in Cairo in the winter but it'll still be WAY warmer there than it is here! lol

Good luck with that. I have moving, it's so much hassle, packing and unpacking are my least favourite things to do :)

Inshallah I hope your move to Cairo goes smoothly for you and you and your family arrive there safe...

Hijabee: that's the part I'm dreading- unloading everything upon arrival... in short, it sucks

H.M.: that's why not-so-much lazy (but right now I'm feeling that way) but extremely busy me is looking for a company to come and pick this stuff up- most are in original unopened boxes so that's a breeze but it's the other stuff I still need boxes for and I don't feel like packing nothing else! lol

Umm Travis: Inshallah, even though it sounds far, my ETA is around the 1st week in January- all issues should be tied up by then, Inshallah. I'll keep ya posted

Lol, still I can imagine...ask your husband to help ya pack or close friends not fair for you to do all the work.

Hope all goes well:)

H.M.: I wouldn't even think to ask the hubby as he works about 12 hours a day and when he comes home, he's burnt out and still have to work to do as he has a side business- this guy averages about 3-4 hours of sleep at night...
And I thought about other sisters coming over but that would just turn into an eating and laughing gathering with a WHOLE bunch of kids running around- not much packing would happen! ;) LOL

Wasalaam Anon!

I'm not sure where I'll be living- I had found one there in Madina Nasr right across from the famous expat area called "Swissery" but that didn't work out... to be honest, I'm not really interested in living in the city (too conjested) so I'm leaning more towards the Al Rehab / Khames area-more open space and fresher air for the kiddies!lol
I'll send you an email- I look forward to keeping in contact!
