The daily chronicle of my family as we embark on our quest to relocate from New York to Cairo... the impending journey to get there and the daily lives of myself, my husband and our four children... and other random thoughts while living in Cairo!

Looking to make contact with other Muslimahs who are like myself with small children living or will be living in a foreign country.

I invite you to share the experience with us as we try to make this happen!

Just popping by........

Just thought I'd give everyone a quick shout-out since I had 2 seconds to check to see if there were any new comments I needed to post... there was a few so I know someone is still reading! LOL
Still keeping up with the lives of most of the people I've come to know here on Blogger- everybody posting their lives on Facebook.... me included! But just thought I would ask: has anyone missed me????? :)

All things here in Cairo is fine.... spending time with the babies.... kinda wishing I was in NYC for the summer but ya can't have everything!!! But there's nothing like summertime in the BEST city in the world.... and I miss my friends and family!

Working on a few personal projects here so when/if something materializes, I'll let everyone know.
The clan is back from their evening walk... gotta run..... remember to keep Allah (SWT) in your lives and love those who don't love you!!!

Oh my gosh!
It's so nice hearing from you after all of these months :D
I'm glad everything is going well in Cairo and hope you're able to blog again :]
And I just saw your other comment from WAAAAY back in november, I'm so sorry I didn't respond! I sometimes have a habit of not checking back on comments, heh. But yeah about the friend, I decided to not be very direct or 'confrontational' in my approach to her but just try and show her what was 'wrong' about it. The pictures are down and she started going to weddings with her hijab on full time :D She feels better about the decision and thanked me for the advice :) So.. job well done! Thank YOU again for the advice ^_^

Salam,

I've been a lurker, so this is my first time posting a comment.
I was interested in reading about your Cairo move, the culture shock, what you love and hate about Cairo. Your insights and so on and so forth.

I myself moved almost five years ago from Cairo to the U.S. And subhanAllah, we are in the process of moving back to Cairo.

You can learn more about me via my website. Who knows maybe now it's likely that our paths will cross.
I have two little ones of my own.

Have a good one,
Salam

Umm Kadhim: Wa alaikum assalaam, sis! Thanks for reading.... yeah, we're all still hanging in there. Life is much better now that we're all settled in... it still has many quirks but I don't wanna rip my hair out from the roots anymore! LOL

Modest: Hey, gurl! I'm glad to took that approach and Alhumdulillah, she's covering up now. You're a good friend, MashaAllah.... sometimes it's better to act "naive" for people to see the error of their ways than just telling them- believe or not, people tend to listen more! InshaAllah, will try to carve out some time in my schedule to make back here on a regular basis. Luv ya!

Coffee: Glad to see you're still reading!!!! I WILL send youa friend request, no problem! Always looking for more people to chat with! How's that baby girl doing? How many months is she now? Hope all is well with you and your family.... take care <3

I know for a new comer (especially from the U.S)-- Cairo can definitely be overwhelming. But there are lots of hidden gems underneath that ragged looking surface.
Another thing about living in Cairo is attitude. It's all about attitude.

We should connect, when It's not 2 in the morning, I'll email.

Peace:)
