The daily chronicle of my family as we embark on our quest to relocate from New York to Cairo... the impending journey to get there and the daily lives of myself, my husband and our four children... and other random thoughts while living in Cairo!

Looking to make contact with other Muslimahs who are like myself with small children living or will be living in a foreign country.

I invite you to share the experience with us as we try to make this happen!

Did ya miss me???

Salaam 'Alaikum sisters!!!

Yeah.... I know it's been awhile but believe it or not, I JUST finished up my last bit of settling in and down business here on last Sunday. It's been a long haul but now, I can finally stay home in my apartment and relax and wait for the hubby to arrive (which is in about 2 weeks) and count down the final days til my bundle make his or her appearance!!! :)

I wanted to let everyone know all is well, children are good, Alhumdulillah.... apartment is FINALLY finished, have everything I need for the new arrival, InshaAllah.... met more cool Muslimahs which is always a blessing, the hubby is due to arrive soon (Wooo Hooo), still trying to adjust to some of the local yocals but my new but old approach to this tiresome, daily problem: "let it roll of my back, let's not care too much about it" attitude will get me through!!! (InshaAllah)

Okay, I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to log in again anytime soon.... Queen, I miss ya- haven't had the chance to read your blog in awhile... hope you and your family are doing okay!!! And I miss communicating with everyone so much but my life has been consumed with getting it all together here so I can start to "live" again.....

Next time you might hear from me, I'll have arrival news to share!!! I love you all for the pleasure of Allah.... please make dua for me and my family!!! Smooches!!!

Umm Ismail: you funny gal.... yeah, I know I suck badly with communicating lately but if I tell you what it's been like, you'd understand... but Alhumdulillah, all of that stuff is finished now. Moving is just uuuugh. I hate it, really. I've been married 3 years and I'm STILL wrestling with getting all of the piles of junk out of this house. But due to injuries and crippling pregnancies I can never get very far.

Did I share my good news? I'm pregnant too! I was so happy to hear that you were expecting and feeling kind of envious too haha! We have no idea when I'm due. We'll find out at the end of the month.

Is there anything good about Egypt? I've read a lot of blogs of life in Egypt and it seems like no one likes it. I hope there's something in Egypt that you can enjoy!

Inspired: I've missed you too, darling especially our little chats thru email... hope all is well. Thanks for the tag! :)

Coffee: Yeah, the ONLY reason I had some motivation to clear ALL the mess is that the hubby is coming so I want everything in its proper place- other than that, mine would still be hanging out too! lol
Egypt itself, in some places is nice... can't lie about that- but it's the native mentality which gets you crazy- it's all about culture, not religion. But I see the only way to co-exist here in peace with one's self and them, deal with them as you need to and surround yourself with expats- life is better and easier this way.

Hijabee: Hey, Little Mama!!! Your bundle will be here before you know it! Remember, it was like JUST yesterday when you broke the news to me at 5-6 weeks.... now look where you are! The time will start to fly by- I know anticipation is a killer!!! ;)
InshaAllah, make dua for me and mine- I'll send pics after the arrival- wait til you see the rest of them now! Miss chatting with ya- get some rest and take care of you! * Smooches *

Yeah, I know the, "It's all about the culture" thing. I suffer through it every day in a place that has a lot of beauty and greatness. But still drives you nuts just the same. For example, you're not supposed to tell anyone that you're pregnant!! (???) And if you do, they get this dirty, angry look on their faces and purse their lips with disaproval like you're being a stupid heathen...

Okie dokie. Whatever.
