The daily chronicle of my family as we embark on our quest to relocate from New York to Cairo... the impending journey to get there and the daily lives of myself, my husband and our four children... and other random thoughts while living in Cairo!

Looking to make contact with other Muslimahs who are like myself with small children living or will be living in a foreign country.

I invite you to share the experience with us as we try to make this happen!

Boring life???

I have read lately and have listened to more than a few people complain about being bored... their lives are boring... what they do is boring... the people they know are boring... their everyday surroundings are boring... blah blah blah. I'm one for self-motivation so when I read that people lives need " a shake up" I think you have many options to turn to such as articles, books and lectures in order to feel and/or remain "on track"... with that being said, I came across this wonderful article for those who need to break out of the rut:

If you feel like you are living a boring life, that there is more to life, and are willing to do something about it, you have just made the first step to creating a great life. You see, most people want a great life but are not willing to do what is necessary to get it. So how do you create a great life once you know you want it?

First of all, if you feel that you are living a boring life it’s because you are not living to your life potential. I believe that you were born to live a great life full of excitement. Begin to do some brainstorming and figure out what things would make you feel like you are living a great life.

Once you have come up with these things, it’s time to start doing some of them. I know that many of the things you came up with might be a bit scary for you but you are just going to have to get past the fear if you want to live great. Fear is the number one reason why people don’t live the lives they are meant to live. Don’t become another casualty of fear.

After you have started to turn your life from boring to great, make a decision that you will never let your life become boring and mundane again. This means that as soon as you feel yourself slipping into a rut, you immediately begin to find ways to liven up that area of your life again.

Is there greatness on the inside of you but you don't know how to achieve it?

Most of the people I know who complain like this about boredom are straight up lazy people! LOL Honestly, at least for those I know, this is the root of their boredom. Get up, get out, and do something!

Lazeena- I TOTALLY agree with you! I believe in self-motivation but some just can't do it for themselves... they need that "push"... or kick :P

Love that pic- too cute

Good Post topic!
Man sometimes we all feel like this. Stuck in a rut nothing new to ever do. Burden with our responsabilities beyond means to do soemthing new. Especially when you have kids. But the best thing about kids is their versatility. If you just up and go "Let ride our bikes across the state they will go OK!" LOL So sometimes we let ourselves be held back when we really just gotta do liek you said and just get out there.
XOXOX I loved this one

You're right. Bored people are usually just being boring and not using their imagination. Being bored also gets people into trouble too.

American Muslima- yes, that's the wonderful thing about kids- they're so felxible, willing to do anything... it's us with the limitations and excuses! I know when a few things start to feel redundant to me, I change things around it things don't feel stale!

Mona- yup, you got it... bored people are usually the most boring bunch- and miserable to boot. Like the saying goes, "An idle mind is the Devil's workshop"... so true.

What can I say... me and my typos! lol
* Meant to say when things start to feel redundant to me, I change things around so stuff don't feel stale! I know... well, we all have our shortcomings- this one is mine.

As-Salaamu-Alaikum Anisa,
Do any of these bored people have kids??? Because, sis., I don't a long enough break to get bored! :)
What I would give for a few minutes of boredom, at least once a week... ahhh!
I'm so glad you liked my poem!
Your Sister,
Najea!

hal786- your teacher spole the truth! As Muslims, they are sooo many things we have to do and NEED to be doing that we shouldn't even be able to say "we're bored". Earn some rewards by additional prayers, visiting the sick, working for charity, attend functions at your masjid or any masjid, attend classes, have Muslimah get togethers, teach your children PROPER Islam... and the list goes on! As I stated before, when things start to feel "routine" just switch around the order of things or implement something new in exchange for something else if your plate is extra full.... and welcome to my blog!

Sis. Najea- some have kids, others don't... but they too busy with their boredom to teach their kids anything, go figure. I KNOW what you mean- a 1/2 hour of total silence would seem like an eternity to me! :0
